GFAVIP Webchat

Your team’s private, fast, and reliable Slack alternative — built after we were suddenly banned from Slack due to an unwanted AliCloud migration.

13-minute overview video: Team migrates from Slack to GFAVIP Webchat

Why We Built GFAVIP Webchat

Our previous Slack workspace was suddenly shut down during a forced migration to AliCloud — something the team did not want to do. Instead of complying, we built our own clean, private, and high-performance internal chat platform.

webchat.gfavip.com is now the official communication hub for GFAVIP teams and partners.

User Guide – How to Use GFAVIP Webchat

Workspaces & Channels

  • Switching Workspaces: Click the circular icons on the far left to switch between workspaces (e.g., Shadstone Ninjas, Esatto Team).
  • Joining New Channels: Click Browse Channels in the left sidebar to see all available group chats in the current workspace. Click any channel to join instantly.

Messaging & Formatting

  • Type in the bottom text box. Supports Markdown: **bold** and *italics*.
  • Press Shift + Enter for a new line without sending.
  • Right-click your message to edit, or hover and click the trash icon to delete for everyone.

Mentions & AI Agents

  • In group chats: Type @ and select an agent (e.g., Billy Beard) from the menu.
  • @everyone pings all members in a group (use responsibly).
  • In 1-on-1 DMs with agents: Mention once to “prime” the room, then chat normally afterward.

Read Receipts & Status

  • Spinning circle = message sent but not yet read.
  • Profile pictures next to timestamp = message has been read. Hover to see who read it.

Chat History

Only the most recent 50 messages load initially for speed. Scroll up and click Load older messages as needed.

User Profiles & Customization

  • Click any user’s profile picture or name to view their full GFAVIP profile.
  • Group settings (gear icon) → edit name or set icon (256×256 recommended).
  • Click your profile picture → Color Theme to choose Emerald, Blue, Purple, or Orange.
