Why this page

A podcast claimed you can use Granola so that almost immediately after a phone call you present what was just discussed. That’s intriguing. It’s also easy to mash “notes in seconds” with “board-ready PPT.” This file splits them.

What Granola actually is

Not Otter/Fireflies. No bot in the participant list. It uses mic + system audio on the laptop (or the phone app). You type scraps during the call — “pricing pushback,” “SSO,” “Friday ship.” When it ends, Enhance notes merges those scraps with the full transcript. Your lines stay black; AI fill-in is gray. Edit everything.

That’s the product thesis: human-in-the-loop notepad, not an unsupervised recap. Templates exist (including ones aimed at board-style structure). Templates shape the note, not a PowerPoint file.

They say audio is transcribed then discarded; transcript + notes stay in the account. Basic plan: notes, rolling ~30-day window. Paid: history, integrations, transcripts through MCP. Pricing moves — check their page.

The “presentation right after the call” claim

Possible. Two different speeds:

Prompt that matches the podcast without pretending it’s minutes:

From the meeting that just ended, 5 slides only:
1. Situation (one sentence)
2. Decisions made
3. Owners + dates

Quote numbers from the transcript. Flag anything you’re not sure you heard.
Do not invent attendees or commitments.

Phone calls

Works if the audio is on a device running Granola (speaker + laptop, or the iOS/Android app). A call that never hits this machine is invisible. Same as any device-audio tool.

Don’t skip

Consent. Tell the room. Granola offers a video watermark and an auto chat notice. Use them.
Skim before you present. A transcript is not a decision log. Numbers, names, “we agreed” — 60 seconds. Gray text is a guess until you keep it.
Speaker labels are weak outside Google Meet (extension) and Zoom on Mac. Elsewhere it’s often Me / Them. Don’t hang a blame slide on that.
MCP transcripts are a paid-tier thing on their docs. Basic may only see recent notes, not raw transcript via get_meeting_transcript.

Week-one sitting

Install Granola. Calendar + mic + system audio. One real call. Tell the other person.
Jot three scraps. Enhance. Screenshare the note to yourself. That’s the 90-second path.
Connect MCP to Claude or ChatGPT. Run the five-slide prompt on that same meeting. Compare to the note. Cut anything you didn’t hear.
If you want automatic decks later, Zapier → Gamma — after the manual path is boring.

What we keep vs skip

Keep: bot-free capture; enhance from your bullets; screenshare the note immediately; MCP for a first deck; consent; 60-second number skim.
Verify: whether your plan includes transcripts on MCP; speaker labels on the platforms you actually use; whether Gamma/Zapier is worth it vs one prompt.
Skip: “Granola makes PowerPoints”; presenting the first AI deck as minutes; capturing calls without saying so; hanging quotes on Me/Them diarization.
